BECOME AN ADVOCATE

When you volunteer for CASA, give hope to a child who has been the victim of abuse or neglect.  As a volunteer, you can lend your voice to advocate for the child's best interests and wishes.

Qualifications

A CASA Volunteer must:

  • Be 21 years of age or older.

  • Successfully pass application, screening and background requirements.

  • Complete pre-service training provided by CASA of Crawford County.

  • Complete 12 hours of continuing education annually related to the work of best interest advocacy.

  • Be able to make a 12-15 month commitment to a case. (An average of 10-15 hours per month)

  • Be able to keep information confidential and work within established program guidelines.

  • Have access to a vehicle.

For your convenience, CASA of Crawford County offers a self guided training curriculum to complete at your own pace.  Pre-Service trainings are 5 weeks long.  You will complete one session each week and meet with the facilitator to review the competencies.  Once you have completed all sessions, you will be observe court and be sworn in by the judge to become a CASA Advocate.

Below is our scheduled pre-service training dates for new volunteers.  Because our curriculum is self-guided, we we can be flexible if the dates below will not fit your schedule.

October 13-November 10, 2022

January 12-February 9, 2023

February 23-March 23, 2023

May 4-June 1, 2023

OUR VISION:

It is the goal of CASA of Crawford County, Inc. to have a volunteer advocate available to serve every abused and neglected child that enters foster care in our county.
